A Word from Captain Steve and his Lifelong Passion for Fishing

“I’m a lifelong fisherman, born in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado and spent most of my childhood learning how to fish the high mountain rivers, streams and lakes. I began learning most of what I know about the basics of fishing before I was 5 years old from my father and grandfather, both of whom were lifelong fishermen as well.

I have been fishing all over North America including Canada and Alaska where I developed a new style of King Salmon fishing that is used widely by many of the fish camps on several of Alaska’s rivers as well as both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. I settled on the Gulf of Mexico several years ago and really love the variety of catches the Gulf has to offer.

I’m an accomplished Tournament fisherman both in saltwater and fresh water with tournament wins in both. Fly fishing has always been a favorite of mine that has carried over from freshwater to saltwater. I have spent several years learning the art of inshore saltwater fishing, concentrating on the ways and habits of the inshore fish such as redfish, sea trout and snook. This is part of my commitment to make my charters more successful than the average charter.

I have become a huge fan of the Silver King or Tarpon when it comes to near shore or beach fishing. I feel I offer people visiting this area an exciting and successful opportunity to experience the thrill of catching a mighty fighter like a Tarpon.

My boat, a 2009 Nautic Star 2110, is not only comfortable for customers to fish in but gives me the perfect boat to offer customers the chance to catch everything from the sea trout and redfish to sharks, grouper, kingfish and tarpon. The boat is very family friendly and can take up to 4 people easily. It is, for me, the perfect fishing machine.

I have been fortunate to learn from many great fishermen in my life and I enjoy passing on what I’ve learned to kids or adults who are wanting and willing to learn."
